Congressman Sam Farr returned to Yac for a second visit. This time he brought
Dana Gioia, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)! We were honored to be shown off as a model for an effective arts program. They stayed for an hour.
Chairman Gioia was clearly impressed, calling our program “authentic”. Congressman Farr said that he likes to call YAC “The safest place in Monterey County”. Thank you, Sam!
Accompanying the Chairman and Congressman were Steve Hoffman, CEO of The National Steinbeck Center, and David Kipen, Director, National Reading Initiatives for the NEA.
Their site visit and enthusiastic candor left us uplifted and more deeply committed to our mission and YAC’s future.
